Solving the truck parking predicament

The Journey of a Truck Driver

Imagine yourself as a long-haul truck driver, steering your rig across the vast highways of the United States, delivering the goods that keep our nation’s economy humming. After hours on the road, fatigue sets in, and you’re ready for a much-needed break. But as you approach the end of your day, a troubling reality looms—you can't find a safe place to park and rest. This is the everyday struggle for thousands of truck drivers across the country, and it’s a crisis that affects not only their well-being but the safety and efficiency of our entire transportation system.

A Nationwide Truck Parking Crisis

The United States faces a severe truck parking shortage, with 98% of truck drivers reporting difficulties finding safe parking. This shortage forces drivers into unsafe or illegal parking situations, escalating stress, fatigue, and potential safety hazards. The lack of adequate parking makes it nearly impossible for truckers to comply with federal Hours of Service regulations, leading to fines and increased risk of accidents. Alarmingly, there is only one truck parking space for every 11 trucks on the road today.

The impact of this crisis goes beyond inconvenience. Drivers often waste valuable hours searching for a place to park, cutting into their limited service hours and reducing their earnings. According to industry studies, the average truck driver sacrifices about an hour daily to find parking, translating into a loss of $5,500 per year—an approximate 12% cut in pay.
